Ok, newby here, Just looking for another edc light. Something small but powerful to carry to work in my pocket. Any help from the experts would be great!:D

The Fenix P1DCE Q5 is almost as bright as the P3D and half as long, it's my EDC, a P1 is on the backup key ring.

Welcome to CPF.Best edc,boy did you open a can of worms.
How bout a bigger pic of that light in your avatar?

Howdy knifenut, and welcome to CPF,
Be sure and check out the welcome matt:

I'll have to agree that a wonderful place to start would be with the P1D-CE, small, powerful, reliable, good value:

Then you might want to consider a rechargeable option so that you can use it all the time without worring about having to continually purchase new batteries, so you could consider something like this:

And of course don't forget to check out these fine flashlight review sites:

Pretty much every EDC is under $100 (exceptions are the Titan and Gatlight, as well as collector's items). It's the throwers etc that push $100.

Would you prefer the best of the cheap (<$30), or the best overall ($50-$80)? The latter is of course a lot better, but you'd be amazed at what $15 can get you.

My own thoughts regarding small and pocket carry at work rule out most of the CR123 based lights, and even the 1xAA's are pretty chunky.

For me, the excellent Fenix L0D CE Q4 fits the bill. This light is fully regulated, gives long operation with NiMH AAA, and while tiny gives you the performance of a full sized light in many ways.

It's only half what you specify for cost, and you can use the difference to get some AAA Eneloops and a charger, or a year's supply of E92 lithiums.

The L0D will fit in the watch pocket of your jeans, or in dress pants leaving no visible bulge. I usually don't carry my keys in my pants pocket, but if you do, the L0D is in the same size range of a USB drive, not too large compared to a lot of fobs, pocket knives, or other gizmos carried on keyrings.

I've ordered up a bunch of impressive lights in the past month, but that L0D

I keep a 1 AAA light (Lightflux LF2 SSC) on my keychain. :grin2:

I will not buy a CR123A powered light on principle. If you're looking for something bigger than a keychain light I'd look at a Fenix L1D-CE or L2D-CE.

Best would have to depend on personal preference.

Batteries?
Size?
Output?
Runtime?
Multimode?

Many would say one of the Fenix Lights.

:welcome:

A can of worms is an understatement!!!! Everybody is different. What do YOU want it to do? Batteries, what kind do YOU preffer? 123's because of power, or not due to the price? AA for the ease of finding them and price? Are recharbales an option? LED only?
You are looking at anything from a Surefire G2 and E2E, to a Fenix EO right now!!! What do you want the light to do?

Lots of opinions that are probably all right... I love my P2D-R100 with pocket clip. Can use the L1D body for AA use. Awesome light/combo for the money.
