What\'s up with Arc AAA availability?

I've lost my Arc AAA, and keep waiting for the "four week backorder" (according to Arc's site) to be over--but that four weeks has stretched for months now. Does anyone know why these great lights are unavailable, and when they are apt to be back on the market? Or is there an outlet (besides Ebay) to get them?

just post you want an Arc AAA and someone will PM with an offer.

I got mine from jcciv. Great guy to deal with and he usually has a few in stock. HTH.

Re: What\'s up with Arc AAA availability?

Got mine recently from "Surefireparts" on ebay. He's a CPF member, and maybe he's the one noted above. The transaction was A+.

I too would like to know what going on at ARC. Not selling a product is an interesting marketing strategy. I whine only because their AAA is such a good light. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

best regards

I also have had two on backorder, now for over 3 weeks. I emailed them and they said they were waiting for parts and were 2-3 weeks out.

Good luck, redcar... I've been waiting for 2 weeks... for a little over a month now. I really hope the wait is worthwhile; this is my first experience with an Arc.

Re: What\'s up with Arc AAA availability?

Arc had a pretty bad supply interruption a few months ago (details in old threads, you probably don't want to know). They are still catching up on warranty replacements and backorders. There are enough AAA's in the hands of CPF'ers that you can get one on BST pretty easily if you get tired of waiting for Arc to have new ones available. Once new supplies are in, I hope Arc will place a high priority on keeping up AAA production sufficient to meet demand, rather than letting another shortage develop for any reason.

Re: What\'s up with Arc AAA availability?

I stocked up on the AAAs. I haven't counted, but I have about 20 in different colors, including several whites. I hesitate to part with any cuz they might be a collectors' item one day. [Not to mention I love 'em to death and is my most often used light.] Whattaya think - can I safely share the wealth (I don't really need the money) or should I hold on to 'em to give to my great grand kids?

Btw, there always seems to be an auction going on eBay for these and they generally sell for close to the original price.

Re: What\'s up with Arc AAA availability?

For the regular (non premium) version I ordered from Lumitron.com with no regrets whatsoever.

Re: What\'s up with Arc AAA availability?

Are the AAA and AA Arcs 10 year warranty or lifetime warranty?

Re: What\'s up with Arc AAA availability?

Yeah. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hey, thanks Randytx. They do claim to have them in stock, for the usual $24.95. Shipping is a big high. A few days ago I bought a Maglite Solitaire to get me through until I replace the Arc. I don't like it nearly as well, but I have to admit... $5 at Target... five for the price of one Arc (before shipping)... it's getting harder to justify the Arc. At $5 a pop I can afford to lose a Solitaire. Maybe having to buy a second Arc will make me more careful.

Re: What\'s up with Arc AAA availability?

First off, there is no comparing a AAA to a solitare, just plain and simple. You'd end up buying 4 handfuls of solitares before you would ever have to worry about getting rid of the AAA or getting a new one. As far as the warranty, all ARC products have a lifetime warranty. And believe me, this lifetime warranty is better than just about any other in the world.

What, they might stop making them???? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/faint.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/faint.gif

Re: What\'s up with Arc AAA availability?

The Solitaire is an awful substitute for an Arc AAA. If I had to tide myself over with something, I'd rather use a coin cell LED light. Even those $1.00 Countycomm lights are preferable to a Solitaire.

After looking at their shipping charges, One Arc AAA...shipping $7.25 for ground? Talk about rape.

I'm guessing that newer 5 mm LEDs will soon outshine the older Arc AAA lights. That will make the older Arcs have value as collector items only, not as state-of-the-art lights.

[/ QUOTE ]That would be the good way to make the AAA a collectors item. I hope that newer, brighter AAA's make the old ones collectors' items and not some other, bad reason. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon23.gif

Re: What\'s up with Arc AAA availability?

Yeah, you're right. It does seem like a toy compared with the Arc. A surprisingly big toy; I was surprised at how much longer the Solitaire is. But I can stand having it in my pocket until I get my new Arc.
