I’m equipping all my friends with EDC flashlights on condition that they carry them at all times. These emails recount a happy result of that policy.

Hi (Brightnorm)
it's amazing how some things happen......that small flashlight you gave me
to put on my keychain (ARC AAA)....well, a few days after you and I had lunch, John and I
went out to Quogue, long island (a small and quiet village about 2 hours out).
We had just had dinner and returned to the inn where we were staying when the
sky lit up in blue explosions and all the lights went out. Everything went out
and only the occasional passing headlight provided a few seconds quick light.
But I fished in my purse for my apt keys with the flashlight attached and I
could not believe the powerful beam it produced! It was a wide circle of white
light and it really got us safely down a flight of stairs and outside where it was
pitch black. It was helpful to a number of people we encountered who were literally in the dark.
At first we thought it was another east coast blackout but then found out from
a police radio that someone had driven into a pole with a transformer on it that
powered the entire town of Quogue. They said it had never happened before and
what were the odds that a drunk driver would pick that particular pole...
Whatever...the point obviously being that your gift of this really neat flashlight
was so timely! So, thanks again.

sure.....go ahead and send my email (with names changed)....it's good
that all those internet light researchers hear a really positive story about
one small flashlight. I'm not exaggerating when I say it was so black that
we would have been walking into parked cars and falling into bushes without
that light. But keep Quogue in the email...it's a real place and it happened
on Wed. 8/27 and they probably still have electrical workers replacing those huge power lines (so many blew out causing the blue explosions) though the actual power came back on around 3am that same night.
Without any light it was easier to see orange/red glowing Mars!

ps found out that the drunk driver was a woman who ended up in the hospital
alive and under arrest!
