Which battery type do you prefer and why?

I've always wanted a "custom hotwife" but can't afford it. :grin2:

It would need to be a custom hotwife which is beyond most of flashlight users.

It may not be a "custom" Hotwire but the solarforce L1200 is around $50. 3x18650 for 1200+ bulb lumens. About the same as a mag 85 with more throw and slimmer to boot. When the bulb goes poof I'm going to try to shoehorn a 64440 IRC in there and a couple 18650 extensions. Maybe a FETie switch. 5x18650 lifepo4 should work nicely :)

Really like my eneloops...aa's and aaa's
also have a small supply of lithium cr123's, but rarely use them.
and some energizer lithiums for I dont know what...those cost me $5 canadian each, so I tend to just keep them for backup because of their 10 yr shelf life....
and I stay away from alkalines.

Even my mom is using eneloops (with that crappy Sanyo charger) in everything. I recycled her show box of disgusting leaky alkalines, and gave her the eneloop family pack thing with both aa's and aaa's and that crappy charger...and some adapters..

I love Nimh cells the most, because they are safe.

Eneloops, Duraloops, Kodaloops, and Eveready 2300s. Standard size, swappable with alkaline in an emergency. I only have one device that uses 18650s, a 4-cell USB device portable charger. Why? Because I have a collection of 18650s from two-way radio batteries and had to put them in something.
