Wow, El Capitan looks nice, powered by a 14500 it surely rocks! I just ordered a Rainier P7, but I may add a stainless steel El Capitan... lovecpf
Personnally, I don't like brass, but there are people here who want nothing else. If you are willing to keep it shiny, it looks freat, but nothing looks more awfull than brass with "burnt-in" fingerprints and streaks.
I have all 3 combinations of the Eiger. HAIII is light-weight, good grip while stainless steel is heavier of course, but not too slippery. It's my preference, I've got the smooth one. The third is a gold plated one, if I remember right, it's made of brass. That's the heaviest and thanks to teh gold plating it'll stay nice.
You haven't only the choice between 8 outputs, but also narriw, medium and wide. Narrow is about what you are used too, if you have other flashlights (hotspot with spill), medium is already special, quadratic washed-out hotspot, much spill. Wide is pure flood. The output should be adapted to the beam. While level 8 is luxury on a narrow (but not unnecessary of course), I would recommend it for the wide. All depend on what yopu want to do with the light, a wide level 2 could also be very usefull as keychain light, if it's only meant to find the keyhole.
As for the El Capitan, if I get one, it'll be a level 8 as I want to use it with a 14500. There are other models to use with less power as the Pacific. Powered by a primary, level 6 would be the best compromise for me, much more runtime and not a huge loss in brightness... :wave:
