This doesn't answer to your question but one thing to note about the shelf life if you keep the batteries installed:

I used to own a model 552 Eo, and it takes a small amount of parasite drain. And yes, I found this out the hard way... :sigh:

I'm not sure about the 555 but propably it does the same since it is basically same system.

So if you use alkalines, be sure to change the batteries often enough.

+1. A set of batteries in an eotech should last a long time. Replace them once a year.
