Hi all, I have a few different torches, recently a few fenix torches which are great for what I use them for but am still interested in surefire. Also this purchase is a luxury I don't need it for anything other than it is a gift. My sister is coming back from the US and has asked if I would like anything so I'm trying to work out which one to get (part of the reason I haven't got one before is when I compared output to runtime to my cost and my use etc). Please no fenix or surefire bashing everyone has different uses and different experiences just looking for opinions on which options are better. Anyway I like the LX2 because of its high and low outputs and 200 lumens however I also like the 6PL or C2L because of the option for upgrading with different drop ins eg a Malkoff which has 200+ lumens or flood or the cheaper dropins available and also the different body, switch options. Even with the cost of a Malkoff drop in a 6P/C2 it is still cheaper than the LX2 with higher out put but no high/low. I am not sure which way to go so any input would be great. Cheers.

Where are you located?

If you want the ability to "upgrade" later, then any of the P60 based will do
- Personally I would prefer C2(L)-HA or C3-HA

If you don't mind going incan, then there's always the A2 - a little piece of SF technology, not seen elsewhere.

But Still the LX2 would also be a fine choice, I guess..

- what do you plan using it for?

Since its a gift to you, I'd go with the LX2. That way you have a great flashlight that doesn't require ordering different parts ... its good to go. This will make it easy on your sister ... all she has to do is buy the LX2. It comes with batteries already installed. And you will be really happy when you get it. :D

How about a rec for me too? I prefer flood to throw and brightness is a priority. No way I'm going to spend over $100 and then have to ADD a better drop in bin.

I just took delivery of my LX2 today, but I can tell you this is an impressive light. It has a wonderful hot spot, actually it's almost all hotspot, very bright. The UI is awesome, everything I need and nothing I don't it's light and small and pocketable. Really a fantastic light. I'm sure a Malkoff drop-in would be great too, but I'd not trade my LX2 for one.

since it's a gift, get the LX2 imo. You can always find a 6P or 6P parts to piece together your own for a pretty good price in the marketplace, not to mention the number of other affordable P60 hosts if you wanted to play with all the different P60 drop ins later.

The reason i am considering a 6P/C2 is because i would like to be able to change parts and try different things. I think my TK12 is great for my use but i just cant do anything to it. Also im a little bit worried that if i get the LX2 i wont want or need my other torches lol. Honestly though i think the LX2 is the way to go i have seen the beam shots and it doesnt look like i can get close to any beam comparison of any drop ins compared to the LX2. Cheers for your input all very welcome.

This is exactly why I have other flashlights! OK, you knew this was coming ... ask for BOTH!!!
Its a somewhat reasonable request ... how often does you're sister go to the USA?!

Ok thanks for the input. I am going to get the lX2, now i just need to work out the best price and how to get it to her. Which shops in the US stock it on the shelves and what are the prices like in comparson to cpf special deals. If i use the cpf special who are the best to use for price, speed and aftersale help/problems Cheers for the advice.

Try Kevin at brightflashlights.com. His website is not finished yet, but his number is there. Call him, I have purchased several Surefire lights from him. He is good and knows his stuff. His prices are very good as well. I think he is ther from 11am to 5pm Eastern time today (Saturday). And he is listed on Surefire's website as a official dealer in Ocala, Fl.

Enjoy your LX2!!

Hi guys just wanted to say thanks for the different input/opinions. I decided on both because i got a great deal (thanks Spyder Tactical) but i have to say the LX2 is great. The feel (a bit lighter than i expected, had in my mind a TK12 weight), size (suprisingly small), tint (a bit warmer than my TK12 not as warm as TK20), finish (slight mismatch between body and tail but still very nice) and light output make it my brightest light apart from TK40 (which is obviously a different torch with different uses). The beam is nearly perfect and hotspot is amazing. I used to find excuses to use my torches but i have now even resorted to turning of my outdoor sensor lights so i can play haha (i have a problem). A big thanks for Spyder Tactical for answering all my questions very promptly so i could get it all organised before my sister came back to Oz.
