Which watch/flashlight?

These two have caught my eye recently...
* Victorinox Night Vision
* Dakota TORCH

Anyone have a chance to compare these side by side? I'd be interested to hear your opinions. Any others I should look at?

Both are so expensive that I'd only really consider them for novelty or collecting purposes, i.e. if I just had to have one. Otherwise I'd just carry a separate keychain light. I don't know of any other wristwatch lights and I'm surprised there aren't more of them. I imagine that some less expensive ones will appear pretty soon. Meanwhile, there's several models of cell phones with built-in flashlights now. That's maybe more practical than the wristwatch approach, since cell phones have so much more battery capacity available. Lots of people have quit wearing wristwatches anyway, and just use their phone as a pocket watch.

Paulr, I agree there's no substitute for a good set of EDC lights. If I get one of these, it'll be more or less for the /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif gadget factor.

I wonder how the Victorinox Night Vision compares to a single 5mm LED light, such as the Arc AAA or a Photon. Sounds like it may be on par with those.

Thanks for the info. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif So I gather that the beam is sort of an orange flood, and is somewhat useful out to somewhere near 1 meter. Would you be able navigate a dark house by that light if your eyes were night adjusted?
