i havent been able to positively find out who sells the cut-down NX05 optics. i find some references, but no actual BST threads.

i need a couple for use with two infinity/luxeon mods.

thanks,

Bob

hi Bob...dunno about the optics let me know if you find em...are you using the the original zetex converter? if so how do you up the current?

i intend to install a madmax lite--i think with some mild filing and drilling, it will fit right in!

i was amazed that my badboy400 lit up at full brightness with a single 1.5v AA (even though it is supposed to fall out of regulation at 1.6v.)
the madmax is designed to continue working to even lower voltages (0.8v i think)--should be a fantastic mod.

i am trying to decide between the MMlite w/1w ($30) or the MMlite w/lux3 ($50).

if i find some optics, i will re-post here.
heck, i may try modding one myself.

fyi: i think that an unmodded optic will fit right into the infinity head, it will just stick out a bit, which may not be a problem.

just buy an nxo5 and file it down, should not take to long, after that wetsand it with 350/600/1200/1500 grit sandpaper after that polish it with fine grit polish.....back to my mod hehe....I dont want a little monster:D just brighter than my aaa, I've read the orinal circuit in the ultra can be bumped up with a resistor wich would be nice for a 8mm led or even a lux

thanks for the info.

i am using an original infinity--non zetex, i think...so it makes more sense to go with a whole new board.

resurrected! for those that are interested in the technique, here is mine.

i just cut down my first NX05 optic.
i used my dremel and a cut-off wheel. worked very well, but was tricky because it is hard to hold the optic while cutting. it did not turn out perfect (2 spots near the edges are lower than the center--the dremel needs careful control), but the beam is still pretty nice, especially with a high dome. my next one will surely turn out much better.

after the initial cut, i followed with increasingly smooth grits.

i would think that a belt sander and a good pair of leather gloves would do a very nice job.

this is for an infinity luxeon mod. i will be placing a MMlite in it. testing is being done with a BB400, and it is still remarkably bright.
i decided to wait until i can afford an ARC 4+, so the infinity mod is to prevent withdrawal!
