Can't a flashlight be made that has like 5 definitive click notched settings along with a power button? How does anyone remember all the different modes if you have more than 2 lights anyway?

It has been done. Sunwayman M11R comes to mind, as do the SF U2 and UB3T and UBR, there are many others as well. Infinitely variable rings seem to be more common recently though.

yeah, sounds like you want a magnetic control ring. Jetbeam RRT-01 comes to mind, I think there was a sister version (Nitecore something?) that I can't pull from the memory banks right now that had mild detents in the ring, maybe that would be to your liking?

Fenix had a couple lights like that years ago - never bought one and I don't know specifically why they were discontinued.

The U2 (at least my old LuxV U2) don't have click stops, the ring rotates smoothly from one end to the other, but there is 6 brightness levels along the way (and Im certain we don't need more than about 6 levels, I only ever used min and max on my U2)

my U2 was the same way. my Kroma, however, had significant and nice detents

I have one of them; TA30. I would like Fenix made this kind of lights again: you can change the brightness when the light is off and always know which brightness the light will have before you turn it on.

I also have a TA30, too big for regular use (3 cell CR123) but great as a beside-the-bed torch. It is my favourite UI. The infinitely variable on the V10R is similar but you gain some, lose some - the low is much lower but you can't do special modes e.g. stobe mode.

yep! :D

it came in today's mail and I love it man!

yours??

Well,I was going to sell one to a friend but.....I am going to keep the 2nd in my RV now!

I can't figure out why no other company has duplicated this light in any real way?

I have x2 of the Fenix TA21. Had to scoop them up before they became unavailable. I had originally lost my first purchased one, and finding a replacement was nearly impossible. I was lucky enough to get the 2 that I did. I like the feel and the UI and wish that Fenix would upgrade them to sell again.
