Hi All,

Im after something like the tiny monster/skyray in terms of size/output but with a really wide beam (I.e 30-40 degree) if it exists? I've had a good look around to no avail but I thought maybe someone knows of a custom?

There are similar lights, some made by skyray I think. One is called the solarstorm, another I think is the apex. Having 5 or so leds, 4 batteries, one has 6 batteries. Check the dealer section on cpfmp, there are some advertised there.

The Solarstorm and Apex are the same light (Says one on the left and the other on the right of the light.

:D

The 5 LED version, if you soup it up (See Vinh's threads) can pump out a real wall of light (I have one with 5 XM-L2's driven at over 6 amps, and its pumping out more than double the lumens you're asking for. (direct drive, on IMR 18650's)

Its a great "Pop it on and see EVERYTHING out there" light.

:D

Thanks for the reply guys! Apex sounds perfect, do you remember how much you paid for your vin version Teej?

He can also told me he can make the Apex into a multi-MTG2 mule which i'm guessing would be even wider but at the cost of less throw

Thanks beast! Are the xml2's much better than u2's?
Teej, you're a shooter- do you think an mtg2 mule or your version of the Apex would be best for walking around in the bush and paddocks looking for shot foxes/ setting up in the dark etc? It will have a red filter on it.
I wonder how much throw the mule would have?
Did you guys get direct drive?

Already use nightmaster for scope mounted and eventually deft-x for spotter, so it doesn't have to be the thrower

My Apex is de-domed TEEJ's is not, my de-domed throws as far as a TN31 but I sacrificed some flood to de-dome it (but still nice flood). It only run in 6-8 minutes spurts at a time before too hot, it is direct drive. I almost sold mine to a co-worker yesterday but backed out of the sale because the portability of it is the BEST for the power, the hook is awesome it voids the need for holster. I wore it last night and u could barely see it peeking out from under my sweatshirt.

I don't have any MTG2s but I heard they are double the brightness of XML2 but they heat up a lot faster. That to me is a turn off 6-8 minute runtime limits drop to 3-4 minutes unless u go bigger (another turn off). Not that I'm not willing to go with a bigger light but Apex size is SO convenient

Everything is a compromise hey? XML-2 domed sounds like the best bet.
What sort of runtime do you guys get?

I have a 4000 lumen mag mod, 6 XM-L on 4 26650 IMRs, very floody and illuminates better than my car headlights on bright. VestureOfBlood built it with a customizable driver, multiple levels. If I turn it off at a mid level, when turning on I can have near instant access to low, mid, or high simply depending on how long I hold down the switch.

Yes Vestureofblood is the man he made me a regulated light not quite as powerful as Apex but it has better runtime and heat sinking. Vinh's Apex is direct drive.

Apparently I can't upload pics but let me know if u want me to text u a few Apex de-domed shots, and perhaps u can ask TEEJ for domed shots

Apex runtimes are short, 6-8 minutes before light needs a cool down period. Apex is 5,000+ lumens. For it's size (the size u like) your runtimes MUST suffer. I wish that wasn't the case. Do u see yourself needing the light for infrequent bursts or for long durations?

Hey Rexlion, how long can u run your Mag mod on continuous high mode for?
