Will this all work?

Hello and thanks for the view,

I have a sunwayman v10rti+ that I am currently using ultrafire 16340 cells and a "dsd" charger. Battery life has been ridiculously poor, some the cells only run for a minute or so after charging, others... best case scenario, I'll get 10mins out of them.

I am considering upgrading my charger and batteries.

I am thinking of purchasing a Pila IBC charger, 15mm spacers and AW16340IMR cells.

Is this the best route to go with this? I was originally thinking of going with the AW protected rcr123a's, but those are sold out at the moment.

Another question, would it be worthwhile to maybe just get the charger and see if my existing cells (Ultrafire 16340's) might start charging properly, or are they likely a lost cause?

1st thing, the ultrafire cells capacity might be overrated..
So u might wanna invest in some decent cells, AW/IMR or Nitecore etc to see if u are getting the same run time.

If u have money to splash, get the host & a extender bored so u can use 18500 cells.

I had a tan V10R that I ran AW ICR/IMR 16340s in and it rocked until it died a year later, then BatteryJuction sent me the V11R and it rocks as well on those cells. I recently got their M11R and while it rocks, it's about half the output of the two V-Rs, but the AWs work well in it.

Don't futz around with XXX-Fire cells.

AW IMRs are about $6-$7, if you shop around.

Sorry, I'm not the best with terminology. Are you saying to purchase an AA extender and bore out the flashlight and AA extender to a larger ID to accommodate the 18500 cell?

Get an Xtar charger. They have surpassed Pila as the 'king of the hill.'

Google their models, from $21 shipped, up to $45 shipped.

They come with spacers for one 16340 cell and you'll have to buy a second set, like I did, for about $3. Most Xtar chargers come with a 12v car adapter for free, so that's a nice bonus.

If you're interested in the Pila, buy the Xtar VP1.
