Will Your AA Replace Your AAA ?

I don't consider the light on my keyring (ARC-AAA) my EDC because my keys are not always on my person. For example, right this second, my keys are on the kitchen table. To me, that's not an EDC. My ARC-AAA in my pocket + my ARC-LSHP on my belt IS considered by me to be my EDC's, because they are everywhere I go. The LSHP will remain on my belt and the AAA will remain on my keychain, however the hope is that the AA will replace the AAA in my pocket.

I hear ya tin. My keys are always on my person so im my case the AA would be my BEDC (back up every day carry). The LSH-P is my AEDC (alpha every day carry) and my Pelican M6 is in my ruc-sack also as a EDC for DX Throws (distance throws). That is basically the lights that I carry on a EDB (every day basis).

It will not replace the AAA, it will complement it. If the other equipment I am carring is AA, it will go with me, if AAA, then the other. While backpacking, it will be the AA. Otherwise, it will depend on which batter is in largest oversupply of loose batteries I have. I refuse to mix batteries and so many items use an odd number of batteries so I end up with lots of loose but new batteries.

As for me, the answer is yes. My primary use of the AAA was hotel-room travel light. Since the AA stands on it's tail so easily, it takes the lead for my biz travel. Also as it is a bit larger it will be easier to find on the night stand. (Of course I still carry my LS for when I need more photons.) My AAA will now be "retired" to my home nightstand light, where I use it to check on my kids every night when I go to bed, so an honorable retirement nonetheless. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I may replace my AAA if I can find a cheap kydex sheath for it. I keep my AAA in kydex on my neck knife's lanyard at all times (Benchmade). It is the epitome of EDC, as it is attached to my person from the moment I get out of bed, until I take it off to go to sleep. I will be receiving my AA tomorrow according to Fedex...

The AA is really a little too big to be a handy keychain light. So my Arc AAAs will stay where they are. I think I'll be using my AAs in situations where otherwise I might have carried my LSH - P. The AA is not nearly as bright as the LSH - P, obviously, but it's easier to carry and you can't beat the run time.

My Arc AAA will also remain on the keychain. My Arc AA will replace the Infinity Ultra for around-the-house use on evenings and weekends. I loaned the Infinity to my son during a recent power outage, only he didn't consider it a loan. So I was forced, forced I say, to buy another flashlight!

I'm not getting an Arc AA (though I wish I could afford to) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif But if I were going to get the AA I wouldn't replace the AAA on our keychains.
One reason is that the AAA is perfectly fine for being on our keychains. They are intended to get us from "here" to "there"...."there" being where there is more light or access to more light. We both have more batteries and lights in our vehicles and I carry an LSH-P (twisty) in my pocket whenever I leave the house.

In short, the AA would be in addition to what we already have....not a replacement.

I am still carying my AAA-P in my pocket. But I work at night and need a light to see equipment I walk through yards/fields with and I use my AA second to use continuously. The reason is this; I cary a pager and other equipment that used AA batteries and as you know just because the pager/equipment says the battery is dead does not necesarily mean it is. So I have an endless supply of batteries for my AA (FREE!)

I'll obviously have to wait until I get my AA 2nd, but I've got to say that
I love the idea of 10 (TEN) !!! hours of light, or more if I
put lithium AAs in it, which I plan to do. That's another thing
I feel comfortable leaving lithium batteries in lights for a longish
time but not alkalines. I change my Arc AAA battery every month
at the least, just to be sure I'll never get a leak or an
explosion.

I have no light on my keys, just my knife. I carry my Arc LS and/or Arc
AAA in my pockets. If I'm wearing dress pants I carry only
the AAA, otherwise usually both, but sometimes only the LS. To me
the extra size is actually a plus, because my AAA has a habit of
slipping out of my pocket unnoticed. I imagine the AA will be
harder to miss. Anyway, I'll just have to see, but I imagine that,
yes, the AA will replace the AAA for EDC and end up on the bedside
table. Actually it's there every night anyway /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif it just won't
leave. I think the Arc AAA is the perfect night time light for
dark adjusted eyes.

To use up old AA's I have the 2AA powerpack for my LS.... that one is my bedside light. The LS with the 123 twisty is in my pocket.

This does not however mean I don't want the AA.....because I do. But since I can't afford it right now I must....must rationalize not getting one. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I haven't justified the price of an LS yet. I think its time for another post your edc gear threads in the Cafe, I can post my pics/list and see if poeple can find ways to work some more lights/other gear in.

No. I received my Arc AA Second today. It is to big for keyring carry IMO. Additioanlly my AA has a very noticable blue tint, as opposed to my AAA-LE. So the AAA will remain on my key ring and the AA will be worn occasionally on a neck chain as needed.

The AA is nice, and I'm glad I bought it. The best feature IMO is the ability to stand on end in "Candle mode". Everything else a AAA or LSH will do better.

My AA has been on my keyring since Tuesday. I only have 3 keys on it, so I don't have a large keyring in the first place. I notice the AA in my pocket as much as I noticed the AAA in my pocket, which is zero.

I'm giving my AAA to my mom.
