Nice lights, I have a Tri-V and it's an awesome light. I thought of selling out trading it but there's nothing that can replace it.

Good luck with your search!

Re: Trade for a Tri V?

Could you divulge some more details about the DeFab modded LS20, such as emitters and drive levels please?
(Perhaps a close-up of the head too)

Re: Trade for a Tri V?

The LS20 is a neutral XPG emitter with three levels (10, something, and 1.2A), along with a XML flood set with a resistor in line to create moonlight on low. So three levels at full piston depth, or low low flood on first position. The heatsink is all brass and makes the light rather top heavy...sitting nice and deep in the hand. I feel the low low flood is nicely complimented by the low reflector level. The low low is just perfect for nighttime babyroom maneuvers.

This is THE light I would least like to trade with...but I also understand this is probably my most desirable piece. The trade value on this light would need to be 1200 USD, so figure that in...and then it becomes potentially this light plus the Fred Mule, for example...where then I would consider that trade pretty dead even.

The 18650 TBSB is a mule running a 3A XML FluPIC from DatiLED. That light would also be around 1200 USD trade value. I would also do that one and the Fred Mule.

Please keep in mind that Fred's Dam mule is a McClicky, and uses a standard Aleph engine pill, and 18350 cells...thus IMHO is a far superior host than the other Dam lights from that run. It was also more expensive to request these custom spec.

Just some info for folks to think about. I am SOOOOO curious as to whether I will be able to work this out with someone.

Re: Trade for a Tri V?

You have some beauties there, particularly the LS20.

Regarding the LS20, what would you do to lock on one of the 3 settings of the XPG?

Would you tap on full piston depth until you achieved the desired setting and then twist the head tight whilst holding the piston?

Or could you twist the head tight then loosen it the appropriate number of times instead?

Presumably if you partially twisted the head, you would have moonlight mode locked on?

Re: Trade for a Tri V?

Yeah, you can use the piston to select the level, which will be remembered by the LE. Then you can just twist the head tight to get that level locked on. You can also repeated twist the head to advance through the levels, and this does work well, as this light's threads are as smooth as any Ti light I have encountered. I think the piston works great. Granted, holding it on reflector for more than a minute with your hand/fingers can be difficult for the weak. Once you train a bit, it is almost like an anti-child measure. :)

Tapping the piston...eh...it is more of a push. It has a much more solid action than a McClicky, if you are not familiar with the PD's.

If you partially twist, moonlight is locked on, indeed (as in photo above).

I have a C-Pack Ti PD McGizmo Mule that we could add in...so you would have both the PD pack and a C pack to switch them up. That starts to approach even, I think.

I also have a complete Moodoo e series Ti 18650 light (including the head) from his recent run I could offer up that is NOT in the photos above. And a Mac Ti Tri EDC Knurly in my hands this week as well. So there are at least two options in addition to the hints above.

Best wishes,
obi

Re: Trade for a Tri V?

I'm very familiar with the PD system and the firmness that is required to hold the piston down fully. ;)

The options that you mention including the LS20 are extremely tempting.
Then again, so is hanging on to my pristine Tri-V! :ohgeez:

Seems to me that the Tri-V V2 will definitely be available at some point whereas it will be very difficult to obtain another LS20 like the one you have. (its not easy to get hold of DeFab)

Having said that its possible that you might prefer a Tri-V V1 to a V2. (perhaps because of the MC-E on the V1)

Re: Trade for a Tri V?

Reading about your lights and offers is getting me tempted to offer my Tri-V....but then I pick it up and use it and I just can't part with it unless I'm getting a smoking deal for it!

Re: Trade for a Tri V? (Rare customs for sale?)

Still waiting for someone to help me out.

Want that LS20? You have till Sunday. :-)

What's gonna happen on Monday? A new week? ;-)

Just bumping the thread with a touch of humor. You're desired light is just waiting out there.

GL, Obi. You deserve it!

Re: Trade for a Tri V? (Rare customs for sale?)

I just want the L20, but don't want to give up a TriV ;)

Re: Trade for a Tri V? (Rare customs for sale?)

OK, we are still in a holding pattern.

I don't want to move the LS20 unless I am sure to get a Tri V in the end.

Tonight, I will convert this thread to a fire sale to attempt to get the one on sale in this same forum. I set a deadline for myself of Monday. At that stage I will at least remove the LS20 from offer.

The LS20's asking price as a single purchase will remain the same, but I would love to discuss a multiple light discount via PM.

Admittedly the price is higher than it cost to get made, but surprisingly not that much higher. First you gotta get yourself an LS20. Then you need to get the guts to send your new prize to DaFab for this mod (which in theory could have also resulted in a sub par, worse than original LS20 as it had never been done before). Then he needs to build it and send it. I am asking you to give me a little extra because a) you didn't wait patiently for a year for the light to be made, and b) I don't want to sell it unless it gets me near enough to the goal.

There will also be a Knurly Ti Tri EDC (Mac) with four modes and no clip. There will also be a Moodoo Ti 18650 e series complete light. There will be a McGizmo Ti PD Mule. And there will be Fred's Dam McClicky Flooder.

Stay tuned I guess.

Or just buy that Tri V for sale and trade with me, dang it!!
