Womans AAA

Help Support Candle Power:

I am surprised no one suggested the Akoray K-102s, i have bought a total of 4 of them from DX and quite like them.

The 1st order had a rather soft black, forward clicky, i.e.and it cannot tailstand, the other 3 which i bought for friends who wanted one after seeing my Akoray AAA were different, the tailcap is now a reddish orange and is a very firm reverse clicky, very nice tactile feel and solid and audible click.

Found that beam profiles were different on all 4 of them and outputs werent exactly identical but what the hey, its $8. But i must say, the outputs were ALL usable and i was happy with my order.

Build quality is robust and it feels good in the hand, the tail clip is nice too, when i clip mine in my office shirt pocket, no one thinks its a light (but then mine is the one with the nearly flush black clicky) but thinks its a pen.

Think that would be good for a woman, she could clip it somewhere in her bag where its easily accessible and not have to rummage around when light is needed.

I'm struggling with this issue myself.

My wife carries a purple E01 on her keys. It's rock solid reliable (as long as our 3 year old doesn't turn it on and hide it somewhere). I'd like her to carry something a bit more versatile, but she refuses the learn the simple interface of the Maratac AAA or any other multimode light I own.

Ideally, the light I would get for her would be 1xAAA, not substantially larger than the E01, and two modes: twist on for low, and twist on more for high.

Does such a light exist?

Have you looked into the Fenix LD01 or the L0D? LD01 for medium, low, high, and can be cranked up to the 140-160 lumen mark with a 10440 cell. But is about 80 lumens on high with a normal AAA. If you want something with SOS or strobe, along with the regular low medium high, get the Fenix L0D. It will definitely come in handy for a car breaking down. They are around the $40-$50 range, if you dont mind paying that amount, and are around the same size as the E01 and run on 1xAAA. That is if you are looking for quality... This will easily last them many years, as compared to a cheapo light that will last you 2 years max, on normal everyday use.

not AAA but AA, Gerber Infinity Ultra. the output is not much by today's standard but the simple twist on/off may find some fans. also unscrewing the tailcap just enough for the contact to open enables it the "click" for momentary. :)

The hard part with my wife was persuading her that she could handle a multimode light at all. I've ordered her one of the iTP AAA upgrades. Since she'll use it in Medium most of the time, it won't bug her.
