Hi all. I am trying to find the name and a source for materials to make metal wire lanyards to act as cap-retainers eg to attach a lens cap to a torch so it doesn't get lost when not in use. Can someone tell me the name of the wire, and in particular the name of the device used to hold the curled-over bits of wire pressed together?
Many thanks IA!

Your local yacht shop may be helpful, they usually carry various size cable and fittings.

Thanks JHanko also. I found (via Googling stainless steel, swage, and .au!) that all the bits I am after are available downunder. Should make nice little retainers. My inspiration was a very very neat and light little piece of bike held together with a s/steel wire. I found it trackside after a smash at the motoGP where I was helping out. So strong, yet so light and functional. A bit of fun to try out, anyway. Thanks again.

Very small wire rope and the matching crimps are very commonly available to make wire leaders for game fishing. Try a shop that sells to saltwater fishermen. I just pulled out a roll of 20 lb test that is .026" in diameter with plastic coating. I've seen it with black and clear plastic.
