Re: WTS: K50vn - Uh oh ;-)

In terms of spill how do you think this light will stock up let's say against a BTU shocker?

Re: WTS: K50vn - Uh oh ;-)

On an LED light, you need reflector bowl depth, not just diameter...so while a wider head will typically help, it won't help as much as it could if not also deeper, etc.

That makes the lights get pretty long sometimes.

According to Vinh he has mentioned a few times that a larger diameter reflector would focus the light more then if the reflector was just made deeper. making it deeper will just make the hot spot very small and the light will be wasted in the huge corona. As apposed to say keeping the depth of the reflector about the same and just making it much wider, this will increase the surface area of the reflector more so and that will make the hotspot larger and the corona much smaller because its all focused into the hotspot.

wide and shallow reflector= almost no corona and all hotspot
narrow deep reflector = very tight hotspot with huge corona

Although this light does look to be awesome, the K40vn is verging on too big & heavy for me already.
AND the hotspot size is still VERY usable.

I'll probably keep the K40vn as my large "search" light and just send it in for a new emitter when the next gen of XML is released ;)

The built in charger is pretty cool I must say even if it adds size & weight.

Add me to the interested list. This one should have some awesome potential.

I'm right with you on this, but if it does double the lux of the K40vn, it might be worth it? We'll see.

Realistically, I would say 600-700K Lux will be achievable :-)

By the way I just sold 7 out of 18 sight unseen (including me). Uh Oh...:-)

Re: WTS: K50vn - Uh oh ;-)

Can I assume Vinh, that if this goes as planned you will order more if we don't make it to the first round?

Re: WTS: K50vn - Uh oh ;-)

Hey Vinh, does the "no box" option still come with all accessories or just the charger? thanks

Re: WTS: K50vn - Uh oh ;-)

Kind of interesting the specs on the K40 show it throwing farther than the K50?
