Hello,

I have bought this X2000 flashlight and zoom mechanism is flimsy so I see that many of you have changed this O ring on it and replaced it with rubber O ring. Can someone explain me what size of O ring should I get and show me exact steps on how to change it.

Thank you very much !

Hi,
you can use a strip of insulation tape to do the same job. Unscrew the head of the torch and remove the lense, then unscrew the pill taking care not to knock the dome off the led. The head of the torch will now slide off. Remove the metal clip that causes the not quite good enough interference fit and then apply some tape to the area it occupied. It may take a couple of attempts to judge the right thickness of tape for your desired feel and make sure it is firmly applied so it doesn't catch and ruck up when you slide the head back on. Re-assemble, job done :)

I have manage to do it somehow. But mine does not have that pill to unscrew, I have unscrewed the top and take out the lens and then unscrew the CREE emitter and thats it. On the emitter there is only foil. I bought it on ebay, not DX because it said that it has Cree Q5...thanks for advice, I think it will be ok now.

EDIT: Wait, do I need to put some tape NEXT to that ring or remove the ring and put some tape over that place where ring is ?

Oh, I have applied 1 layer of tape and mounted that O ring back on it and it goes very good for now. Hope it will last. Shame that they dont do that at the factory.

Tnx a lot for your help !

No problem :) I'm sure that solution will work just aswell, maybe even better? I didn't know what thickness tape you were using.
If you want a better built smaller light for roughly the same money have a look at the C-78 or Romisen RC-29. Personally I like the spill without a hotspot on these type of lights :)

Yea but I like this zoom-to-flood type and this was the only one able to do that...

Cheers

I have tried this one tonight, boy is this bright ! 8-D I have never seen that bright light, MagLite 2D with LED is like 10x worst than this one. It throws on 50m so strong when on zoom that I really cannot believe my eyes. I have tried to search those that you have said but I cannot find them on DX ? Mine is on 3 AAA batteries, I dont want other battery power because they are rare and very expensive here in Croatia.

Cheers

EDIT: Found it, C78 is 1AA and it seems ok but it is far from this one comparing lumen output. But it is also much smaller than this one...but that Romisen RC-29 I cannot find. If this that I have bought now does not break I think I wont change it ever, it is perfect :-)

Sorry, the RC-29 is at Kaidomain not at DX, it's also AA powered. Not quite as bright as yours but regulated and better quality. The X2000 was the first torch I ever bought and I was very pleased with it too. Others were impressed so I had to order some more! There are spare switches available at DX for cheap if you ever have any problems but the led should last pretty much forever in a torch :)

And can I order other reflector for it ? Since I got only thin shiny foil with it.

I hope it will last forever with this amount of light, I am sure that I will not find better :-)

The X2000 I have came with a piece of a flat circle of very thin metal installed too. The aspheric types of torch tend not to have reflectors fitted as it makes the beam spill look very odd. Theres a few photos on cpf illustrating this. If you take care of it I'm sure it will last you long enough :)

Paul.
