I am considering to buy an X990. But does its power and quality justify the price? How does it compare with a 3MCP Vector with two 100W H3's?

My friend has this big light for fishing. It illuminates the water and attracts fish. It has its own gasoline generator and he says it has a 1000W Halogen bulb. How will an X990 compare to that? If a vector with 200W's of halogen makes 3MCP, then a 1000W halogen should make 15MCP. The X990 is advertised as 7MCP. I know there are a lot of factors that factor into the CP rating of a light, but if I'm right, getting an X990 will surely impress him.

The 3mcp vector with its dual bulbs is just a big flood light, my thor outperforms it in throw but not in sidespill

I don't have a 990 but for what I see in the pics I can tell that it is at least twice as bright as my thor with the axial filament. A real monster light! I am sure you won't regret buying such a nice light.

If you already are in the X990 range, consider also the KumKang, check out kenshiro superlights thread page on top of the spotlight forum. to learn more.

well a 1000 watt halogen will out shine a x990. Thats kind of insane for portable lighting! If you wish to top that your only hope would to use a 400-600 or even 800 watt metal halide street light hooked to a portable gas generator. or use an array of about 5 of the x990's. As for candle power rateings I belive them to be totaly useless. total lamp lumens is what I try to go by. The thor spot light clames 10 million from a 100 watt H4 type bulb, thats a total B.S rateing and would really like to see the manufacture back that up with hard data.
Anyway I doubt you would not be happpy with the X990.

I have an X990 and we use it for shining deer. Daylight for 500 yards it does make. I used to have illegal 250 watt aircraft landing lights for bright beams 30 years ago in my car. The X990 is as bright as that but will not smoke a kilowatt PAR bulb- no way. The X990 is a nice package with the 2 batteries and www.brightguy.com lowered the price back to $495 recently. Everyone that sees mine is amazed. I have been commanded by my hunting buddies to bring out on our next trip this fall... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I saw a barely used one on ebay a few months ago sell for $380. I hope that happens again.

Somebody told me or I read it here somewhere /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thinking.gif that a SL240 will out throw a X990. I would think this to be correct due the Blitz's 9 1/2" reflector and I don't think the X990 will focus down as tight as it will.
