Cutter now shipping xp-g2 s2 bin. But how long has this bin been going on? After many dead ends (did I miss a heads up post here at cpf?), I found https://www.cutter.com.au/products.php?cat=Cree+XPG-2

Cutter is misleadingly vague; It kinda looked like they were getting rid of old xp-g2 s2's. Cutter's home page didn't say that the s2 was xpg2 and led to http://www.cutter.com.au/proddetail.php?prod=cut937 which still didn't mention generation, xp-g2.

Also, I thought the terminology was written, "xp-g and xp-g2" , while cutter has its terminology listed as "xpg-2". Is cutter wrong, or is this the street name and what the high school kids are calling them?

Also, I bought my first xp-g2 r5 from intl-outdoor.com in the fall of 2012. Does it usually take a year to bump up a bin now days?

I wonder how long before we see these in lights and drop ins? Also, another question, is it about time I risk busting apart my Fenix hp11s (gen1 xp-g r5) for this second gen s2 (3 bin equivalents up?), or wait another year?

Not sure how long since you looked for these, but S2 bin in (XPG2, XPG-2, XP-G2, sorry for any confusion but in simple terms it is XPG generation 2) has been out for some time now.
Simple answer on products with latest leds is that inventory rotations and product life cycles dont align with technology advances at a pace that we all would like and S2 is not available in massive commercial qtys
