XPE2 throw without reflector or optics

Hey all,

I'm annoyed I didn't do this test while I still had some of the emitters in question on me, but what is the beam pattern like on an XPE2 without a reflector or optic? I guess its a mule configuration technically. What's it like compared to an XPG2 for example?

All flood or does the die size and beam angle give the XPE2 emitter on its own a bit of throw?

Just throwing ideas around in my head and am currently in no position to test myself.

Any insight would be awesome.

Check the datasheet. There is a chart giving degrees and relative output. Compare to what you know... But watch out for chromatic separation at the edges.
 
Hmmm that would be the smart thing to do Lol. I will have a read and compare the two data sheets as I'm much more familiar with the XPG2 beam pattern so can compare the XPE2 pattern in my head :)

Its hard to do on my phone (don't have access to a PC for 3 weeks) but the differences between the 2 emitters appears to be negligible unless I'm reading the spatial distribution graphs wrong?

The XPG2 has an ever so slightly wider distribution and intensity out wide which makes sense, but in the middle it generally is the same as the XPE2.

Basically if the 2 graphs are to be trusted, without optics a naked XPE2 would be just as floody to the eye as a naked XPG2. Actually comparing them side by side in the real work would help me, so maybe I'll have to get onto that when I return home.
