Xtar D06... the ultimate thrower for 1X 18650?

I was just checking out the Xtar D06 800 lumen model, and was impressed by the 249 meter throw, infinitely adjustable brightness, and 100m waterproofing! I'm new to flashlights, but is this not impressive? I'm looking for a 1X18650 light with maximum throw. Do any others beat it? Thanks!

Interesting find! I will check this out.

I believe the king of the hill for the single 18650 thrower is the Xeno G42. Very FAT head and was primarily designed to throw using a single 18650 format. But who knows, this Xtar might beat it. Time to do research! :)

Lumens isn't what determines throw. A Crelant 7G5 V2 with collimator head can produce 700lumens OTF and get about 60,000k - 80,000k lux. Saabluster's DEFT EDC Enthusiast produces about 200-300 lumens but goes over 80,000k lux.

Throw is based on Lux, not lumens.

Definitely the 7G5 V2 doesn't produce 700 OTF with the collimator head. It does throw better, but your looking at more losses through the glass. I'd say 700 - 30-40% would be more realistic.

I haven't tested the D06, but based on my review of the XP-G-based D01, I imagine it is a good thrower.

But I've tested quite a few 1x18650 lights that can exceed 249m ANSI FL-1 beam distance. The Niwalker 750N1 is the current champ right now along with the Crelant 7G5-V2. Of course, the collimator provides even greater throw on the crelant (at the expense of output, as Jason points out).

I just received a D06 but had not much time to try it out. It is rather heavy due to its sturdy construction but the beam is exceptionally powerful and travels much far. I was really impressed by the distance reached by this rather compact light.
