I recently purchased a VP1 to recharge my growing herd of 18650 LED batteries. I couldn't be happier with it, but I do have a question...will it also recharge AA and AAA eneloops (another growing herd)? Please excuse the ignorance, I'm still getting used to having strong batteries and powerful lights! Thanks!

I am seriously considering purchasing one of these, myself. Please click below, to see a very nicely put together review on the VP1 charger:
http://lygte-info.dk/review/Review Charger Xtar VP1 UK.html

It looks like the Eneloop batteries are not supported by this particular charger, according to the review. I've been using, either a La Crosse BC-700 for all of my NimH AA and AAA batteries, and a pair of Nitecore i4 chargers for all of my lithium ion batteries, with no problems; both, very nice chargers for the money. The i4 will charge NimH AA, AAA, and C batteries, but I'm not sure if they'll charge Eneloops. I suspect, not.

I really like the display on the VP1, and I've read all sorts of good things people have to say about the Xtar chargers. This one may be my next investment.

I hope this helps, some. Good luck!

Thanks for the info! I had seen that review but missed the eneloop reference (I'm still getting used to the nomenclature). If the La Crosse works well for the eneloops, I'm okay with that.

Great, thanks for confirming that for me. No batteries were killed during the making of this thread!

no problem buddy. typically i'd look at the output voltage on the charger. if it says it puts out 4.2V then it should be a dead giveaway it's a Li-ion charger 99% of the time :)

welcome to the VP1 club!

I just ordered a MH-C9000, so I should be good to go for the AA/AAA eneloops. Thanks for the advice.

The answer is NO. Eneloops are NiMh type batteries and the charger you have is designed to charge certain types of lithium batteries.

You will need to get a separate charger for the Eneloops.
