Thanks to Princeton Tec for recently replacing my five year old Yukon HL through their generous warranty. The three 5mm LEDs got quite dim and one finally failed. They consumed more current than the side emitting Lux, so perhaps there was a problem from the start.

Anyway ... after using the new HL for a couple weeks, I accidentally found that the Lux & 5mm LEDs Have a Hi, Med, Lo, Flash sequence available by quickly depressing the switch after it's on. Nothing in the instructions or on the box indicated this feature.

Also, the light comes back on to whichever LEDs that were previously used. They start at the high level, however. Mine uses about 400mA on high, 200mA for medium level and 100ma on low, when using NiMH cells.

Yours is a newer digital version of the Yukon HL. I also have one and it was marketed as such.

The digital version of the Yukon HL came out after the YukonExtreme which, besides the obvious difference in power source and the retention of a Xenon main beam that was present in the original [non HL] Yukon, introduced varying light levels in the Yukon line of HLs.

The digital version of the Yukon HL went one level better for each of the light sources by providing low, medium, and high output levels instead of just low and high o.p. levels for each of the light sources.

Purchased mine maybe two years ago give or take - definitely well over a year ago.

Hello half-watt. Did your instructions and box indicate the extra levels? Do you know if the old HL was direct driven, containing no active circuitry?

For my purposes the extra levels add to the light's usefulness and longer runtime. When switching between the Lux and 5mm's the present level is maintained. The switch operates much easier than the original HL. Now, if only the three 5mm LEDs weren't so blue ...
