Now when my neighbours drive by and say, "that guy is an idiot" they just got closer to being right. :)
I made my last mailbox out of 1/2" aluminum to help deter baseball bats, it worked well, just a bit boring.
So, I spent the last week working on this one..
(The bottle is there for size reference)

The thing is huge, this photo shows it upside down, mounting bracket to the top, it is getting closer to being done but still has a ways to go, the reflector needs some help and my wife will add the detail work that will define it's intention. I am replacing the traditional flag with a series of LED's around it's disproportional bezel, they will be activated by a pressure plate inside the mail slot, or a simple switch the mail lady will throw instead of raising the flag.
It's been a fun project, I recorded each step with photos, but with my dial up connection it is time consuming to post them, if there is any interest I will try anyways..
If anyone chooses to make fun of it, please do so by mail. :naughty:

I'm sure it'll look pretty cool when I'm done, it's a diamond in the rough right now..
Fortunatly, where I live, only a couple people will ever see it..
