I have one that I use on night geocaches and hikes. It is an ok area light. It lights the path directly in front of me and is great for viewing maps and my GPSr. Not much output, just a gentle flood of white light with very little throw. I usually clip it to the visor of a cap or onto one of the shoulder straps on my pack.

I've been looking for a replacement for my Petzl Zipka. I'm using it when I build computers and the Zipka is just too uncomfortable to wear for long periods.

Is the Triode comfortable?

It weighs next to nothing so it is quite comfortable. I have not used the headband as it is so easy to clip to the brim of a cap. I got my light as a package deal with a Gerber Gator hand axe. I wouldn't rely upon it as my sole light source if I was in the bush at night, but as an additional low power flood to light 3'-4' in front of me and to illuminate my GPSr and/or compass I love it.
