Surefire KL1 Question

I have a KL1 I picked up in a trade on a different forum. I believe it was orignally modified by revolvergeek. As far as I can tell, only the emitter was switched. It works fine on 1 or 2 cr123s. Last night, I was experimenting with li-on rechargables. With a protected 750 mA RCR123, it would not light up at all, not even a flicker. On other other hand, with a 300 mA RCR2, it worked just fine, even brighter than the stock cr123s. Anyone have an idea why the KL1 won't work with 3.6V RCR123 cells?

The KL1 must have been modded to provide 750mA or more to the led, drawing more than 1amp from the battery, and possibly requiring more than 1.5 amps from one battery, which a protected cell would not provide. Try an unprotected RCR123, or two of them, if buck/boost circuit was not changed.

If you bought it from revolvergeek chances are that it was modded by Chop.
