Homemade E2e holster

My night started this evening with trip to Target with the family and ended up with a little project I am pretty happy with. I got the idea to make a holster for my E2e out of a cheap leather minimag holster.

Now the E2e is fairly small and isn't hard to pocket carry but sometimes I just don't want it in my pocket and as small as it is I figured it would be very ubobtrusive on the belt.

So I started with the holster from Target which is on clearance for $1.48 right now.

Straight out of the package it is a VERY tight fit and the body of the light doesn't fit in far enough. So I made a cutout in roughly the same shape as the machined surface around the pocket clip on the light to allow it to fit further down.

To fix the tight fit I put the light in the holster and then soaked it in hot water. I removed the light and replaced it a few times and then let it dry. I also bent the bottom sides of the holster in to make it a little harder to accidentally hit the switch from the bottom.

Then I just used a sharpie on the exposed leather to make it looked a little more finished.

It works with both the standard E2e bezel and the KL1.

This isn't rocket science but I was happy with the results so I thought I'd share. I sometimes carry my 6P or G2 in a surefire nylon holster so this is unnoticeable compared to that and it only cost $1.50.

Wow! Way to go on your stretching of that Mini Maglite Leather Holster. Does it "seat" in straightaway when you do so? Or do you have to fiddle with it to get in there?

It's is still a little tight but better than I expected. I may try one more bath in the hot water to try to get a little more stretch so I don't wear the anodizing prematurely. It's kind of nice because even if it stretches to the point that the body slides in and out quite easily the pocket clip provides enough retention to hold the light in place.
