I'd like to create an animated avatar. I've searched for tutorials but haven't found a good one. Anyone have a good link? I've have the software tools but just don't know how to go about editing photos to get the desired effect. I have a pic of me holding a fish and want the fish to appear wiggling as I hold it...

simplest way is to put multiple images into an animated GIF format

You'd need to make at least several frames (resizing & saving them no larger than 80x80 pixels), and then concatenate them into a single animated .GIF with a program like GIF Construction Set (the one I use).
