Press and hold for 20 seconds or more until it blinks, I think ,was the original procedure.

You can also just remove the batteries, wait a moment, and then reinstall them to get the light out of demo mode. Just be careful not to press the button as you are inserting the batteries as that is what triggers the demo mode.
