 :help:

I have a small fiber optic lamp that has 4 blue LEDs in it. I would like to remove 3 of the blues and replace them with one green, 1 red, and 1 yellow LED. Where might I find these?

Here is a pic of the base of the lamp...

Hmm. I don't think I know of any good source to buy ONE each of several
colors of LEDs. There are a few electronics stores that will sell ones, but they
typically have relatively high prices, minimum orders, and significant shipping
charges. Someplace like http://stores.ebay.com/LED-Store would get you 10
each of several colors for about 15 bucks, which is probably better than one
each for 10 bucks...

Your best bet may be to find some local dollar-store toy with the appropriate
colors and rip it apart...

This may sound crazy but what about buying some of the 5mm 3 color (red/blue/green) blinky leds and using them instead? Power them up and they automatically change color every few seconds.
Pack of 10 for $3.34 from lck-led.com.

Try besthongkong.com for individual 5mm leds in different colors.
Individual leds.

You will need to use voltage dropping resistors for the red and yellow leds.

Ahhh... Thank you also! That site has a 100 pack of R, G, B, and Y, 25 each for $25... Is that a good deal?

Now, what size LED is that? I am guessing 5mm, but have NO idea. I guess I could measure when I get home.

Thanks again!

I was looking at those on eBay. That is a good idea, but I also wanted yellow. To please the girlfriend, it's her favorite color and all. Although it's my lamp. :ironic:

I also need to see what voltage the lamp provides. I think it is 12, but I may be wrong... :grin2:

I have, in the past, scavenged LED Christmas lights. Just measure the voltage across one before you cut up the string.

I don''t know how your light regulates current (probably doesn't, since it looks like there's only a resistor or two on that board), so you might want to be a little careful about the voltage drops accross the LEDs. I think they can vary quite a bit, for different colour LEDs. That could affect your results quite a bit.

Good luck!

do the colors alternate, flash, or just stay on?
They alternate with a semi-fade and then individually flash.
You can find a review and video of the led at the ledemuseum.org site.
It's listed at the bottom of the High-Flux and Other LEDs catagory as RBG LEDs.

i wouldn't go with the RBG ones then.. their internal IC driven (they flash, etc. on their own)

just swap for different colors...
