Hey, I've got $80 to spend on light, accesories and batterys. I can upgrade my G2 to rechargeable for $30. I would like a new light that is bright and dosn't use CR123's. What do you recomend?

Does it have to be roughly the same size? And is it ok with LEDs? And need it be bright or brighter than your G2?

The streamlight propolymer luxeon 4AA is very popular around here.
Review and stats here.

The Blimp (3AAA) is also very bright and has roughly the same performance as G2 when it comes to throw, total output and batterylife and very cheap, 20USD.

Coast Focusing seems to be very similar to the blimp but with focus ability. Review here.

To compare numbers with your G2, check out this review.

All of these lights fall well below your 80USD budget, be it bad or good, up to you. Your maybe after a rechargable system?
Good luck!

I highly suggest either the Streamlight 4AA Luxeon or the 3.7v rechargable lamp from AW (for your G2).
My G2 is fitted with one and a 17670 cell and a UCL Lens and I really like it! The beam is just as flawless (if not more so) than the stock beam, and is quite a bit brighter as well! It runs for over 45 minutes with little to no dimming and around 55 minutes before the light shuts off completely. VERY flat output. If you are going to be using your G2 often than this will really save you some cash in the longrun.

Another vote for UK 4AA eLED Zoom. A very rugged, totally waterproof, compact light with superb focusable, two-level output. Can be had for about 40 bucks.

Also, the SL PP 4AA Lux can be had for less than 30 bucks. Not as compact as the Zoom, but just as rugged, and a better thrower.

Get both lights for less than 80 bucks and you are all set.

Unless you are a cop, special forces operator, or similar occupation, you don't really need anything beyond these two lights, except possibly a key chain light and a headlight.
