Who is currently using Crees? From what I've seen its just Fenix and people making customs lights. Anyone else? Anyone know if the new Novatac will have a Cree?

Are you asking about Cree LEDs in general, or perhaps about the Cree XR-E specifically?

i'm hoping arc flashlight will use the xr-e's or something comparable.

also with how quick technology moves it's good to make flashlights with the ability to upgrade the led when the time comes.
iirc, Peter from arc flashlight had mentioned this feature in the new arc ls.

For now it's just Fenix, Huntlight,Lumapower, and Mcgizmo. I think in the upcoming months there will be a bunch more cree lights by different manufacterers.

don't forget Orb Raws and Raw NS now have a cree option

it's made my other LED lights redundant in an instant

Call me when someone uses the Cree XR-E with 2 AA's. A Fenix L2T with a Cree XR-E would be fantastic, or a P1D CE type light that uses 2 AAs.

Lumapower has one selling right now on the manufacturer's forum and have 2 more about to hit production.

My bet is many manufacturers wait for the dust to settle a bit before making a move. The Seoul Semicondutor P4 will be easier to adapt to existing Luxeon platforms.

Thank you nanotech17!

Why is there such a difference at the two beamshots (Picture 24 and 36), what did

you change in between?

Flickering:

I had a flickering problem with my FT-01PJ using primaries (flickering is not

the right word – it did not went on sometimes after putting in the batteries or

it went out if I was shaking the light).

I noticed that it did fire up every time when I loosened the tailcap a bit, so I putted

a rubber band between tailcap an body and the problem on my FT-01 was solved.

I was wrong …. the FT-01 fails to work again!

I contacted the dealer and the did send me another tailcap – same problem –
every time I tightened the tailcap the light fails to work properly.
It flickers and went out when I was shaking it …

With the tailcap unscrewed a half turn it worked better but not really good.

I detached the tailcap, wrapped aluminium foil around my forefinger and connected
the cathode of the inserted battery with the flashlight's body.
It flashed up, but every time I increased the pressure on the battery the light went
out!!!

I found out that the current linkage is NOT provided by the front of the reflector,
it is provided by the base (rear side) of the reflector (drop in unit) and if the
pressure increases the reflector is to be disconnected from the flashlight's body.

Knowing this I made a little ring (spring) of proper size from stainless steel and
wrapped it around the rear side of the drop in and now the problem is REALLY
solved.

Please excuse my poor English, I hope you can catch my point …
