Will the Surefire Cree E2L head work on a FB3 body?

I am hoping to get a cree E2L surefire and put the head on a 3 cell FB3 body from Vital Gear. Will this work for even longer output? I don't want it any brighter, just an even longer runtime. I'd go back to the regular body for EDC. If I am wrong do I have another option for making the E2L head run for a ridiculous time without being brighter?

What about two rechargeable 17500s? Will that work or is the voltage still too high?

Don't know about the 17500's, but...

An 18650 would give it about the same runtime as primaries - 9 hours regulated. Leef makes an E-series body that accepts an 18650, but the tailcap has to be a C-type. It would look a little funny, IMO, but that's not stopping me from wanting to try it...
