L1 Cree work with R123?

I got a L1 Cree and I'm thinking of getting some R123 as CR123A can get expansive. Does anyone know if the L1 Cree works with R123? I've seen a thread in the past few weeks but unable to find it.

I'm also in Canada, anyone know which is the best online store?

I'm using Tenergy 3.0v 900mah cells, purchased from Batteryjunction. Others on CPF have been using 3.7v rcr cells. The Tenergy's work just like a primary cell, but about half of the runtime.
