I noticed that my new T1 has a ring around the hotspot. It is suppposed to be like that? I don't see this ring in my P2D which also uses the Q5 LED. Why?

Yes, mine does as well. Not terribly uncommon for Cree lights. The reflector on your P2D may be more heavily textured, thereby eliminating the ring, but reducing throw.

I have 2 identical P1D Q5's w OP reflectors. One has a half moon (shadow) and the other doesn't. I have other Cree lights that have really great beams. Who can explain it, I'm sure the T1 is the same.

Might be a misaligned emitter. Either the emitter is not centered on the reflector or the emitter die is not at the center of the LED dome.

If you can live with it, it won't be much of a problem is real use.
