I have two Petzl Duo s.
The older one has two incandescent bulbs.
The newer one has one incandescent bulb and 5 LEDs.

I see some people have made more free style mods. Is there a simple mod kit I can do that would give me output? I am hoping to get away without any math or soldering.

Thank you

The Duo isn't very modable without a lot of work. I've been thinking about cutting an aluminum plate and mounting two LEDs with buckpuck drivers. But I'm not that crazy about the Duo to begin with.

I am guessing that the current halogen is around 60 lumens and the smaller bulb is around 50 lumens?
Can I just drop in a GH17, screw in bulb and get 100 Lumens? OR GH44 and get 201 lumens?

If there someplace I can order a Peztl 14LED module?

be aware that older DUO's have the reverse polarity of that required by the 8 and 14 LED upgrade modules (the 8 is older and probably not very available any longer, having been replaced by the 14 LED version - which, BTW, only get about 10h of burntime on 4xAA alkalines on MAX output setting). however, it is a pretty simple matter to switch the wires going to the socket pins that are going to accept the 14LED upgrade module.

there should be a NOTE in the included instructions on this fact and how to do the simple mode.

I really don't like the price for what I am getting.

So if I try to go the home make way, what do you hard core guys recommend.

I am thinking something in the range of 150-200 lumen to replace the halogen and
8-14 leds for the low end.
