Dx SKU 7880 driver oddities

I've modded 2 lights with this board now and both seem to have a weird quirk..

Normal modes:
low>med>hi>strobe>blink strobe>sos

But every now and again I get the following:
low>med>hi>low low>beacon (blinks every 10 secs or so)

I get this second lot of modes every now and again and I don't understand how, I wish I did as I love the low low mode.

Anyone else get this?

You are switching between groups. The 7880 has 3 groups of modes. Per DX website:

Total 20 Brightness modes in 3 groups:
1) Weak-Lo-Mid-Hi-Standby-10 second Beacon (Note:Group-shifting signal on Standby Mode)

2) Lo-Mid-Hi-Fast strobe-Warning strobe-SOS (Note:Group-shifting signal on Hi Mode)

3) Lo-Mid-Hi-Fast strobe-Warning strobe-3Hz Slow strobe-1Hz Slow strobe-SOS (Note:Group-shifting signal on Hi Mode)

From your description, it appears you are switching between group 1 and 2 probably without realizing you are doing it.

If i remember correctly, to switch groups, go to the mode specified by the group-shifting signal. After about 5 seconds, the light will blink once. Turn the light off then on, and it will switch to the next group.

lol, thanks for that didn't realise this driver had groups.

I did think about it and tried switching group on low as with what seems to be the norm with most drivers, it obviously didn't work.
