Hidden Gem - Eastward YJ-XAQ5 18650 - Budget Dereelight!

I just had to create a thread for this light as many probably don't read my review thread.
It's the Eastward YJ-XAQ5 18650 and it is one of the best buys ever right now imo.

It costs $27 at KD and OMG it's nice and bright.

10000 lux @ 1m initially and 9000 lux @ 1m for nearly 2 hours.
That's not with a smooth reflector btw. It's with an OP reflector!
Overall brightness is very close to the DBS V2 Q5 also. Nice.

Compared to Dereelight DBS V2 Q5, in-hand, this Eastward feels as good if not better.
It's a useful 2 mode clicky. Low mode is still fairly bright so it's quite useful even in low.
Quality wise, I just can't believe this light is under $30. Buy one now! I guarantee it.
It seems to drive the Q5 at around 1A coz it pulls around 1.4A. DBS V2 pulls 1.8A.

I will put up more photos of it (pill/switch etc) and outdoor photos when I can also.

I like it so much that I had to start a thread just for it. =P

I really hope they didn't take advantage of my review. haha.
Coincidence? Possibly. But what an interesting timing if so.

Maybe their site is like Amazon.com, when an item starts selling faster, the price just automatically goes up.

I wrote to DX to see if they're going to sell it soon.
DX is selling the buckle light cheaper than KD now, and I haven't seen DX raising prices (yet). Suppose it may be the weakening dollar.

Man, talk about shady business. I hope this isn't true Kai.

Have ordered one ($31).

Hope bin will be good.
Don't want to swap the star for now.

Regulation is pretty good with one 18650.

How is the clicky switch quality ?

I have already buyed RC-M4 (with DX Q5 WC 3-mode 0-100% on the way), RC-F4 (swapped with Q5 WC 16mm), RC-G2 on the way (shipping end april), and now Eastward Q5 18650 !

It's the first time I order at Kaidomain, hope it's a cool guy.

kai has been under some "heat" from the buckle light fiasco which i was unfortunately part of

Switch feels firm and solid. Can't really say it's super high quality though.
It's using a 3-way switch module which looks very much like ones below.

It's mounted/soldered on a round pcb with a flat-chip resistor.
btw, did you make a donation just then? Not sure who it was. =P

You said it. Kaidomain sucks arse from personal experience. They could have the best light in the world and I'd give them a wide berth. The whole thing is unprofessional. Stock levels are bogus. Status indicator are bonus and a myriad of other problems with the service. Stay away. Wait for DX to stock it. You know they will eventually.

KD listed two Eastward Q5 lights the same day. This one is an 18650 while the other is 2X18650. On the day they were first available, this one was $27, and I seem to remember that the other was $33 or so. Now this one is $31, but the 2X18650 model is $26. Go figure.

I totally agree! I too have had problems with Kaidomain.

Nice review, hmmm looks like a M6 wanna be aesthetics wise.

Got mine today. Very bright as reported and throws a long way. I'm disappointed that the tailcap is quite loose, and I'm going to see if a larger o-ring helps. Thinking about changing to UCL glass.

OH NO! The buckle light machinists are spreading!!

Lens is 37mm, and this size isn't available at Flashlightlens.com or KD. Anybody know of another source for UCL glass?
