2D Mag-lite- Stuck Tail Cap

I have an older 2D Mag that sat for a long time with no use, went to replace the batteries one day and of course I can't unscrew the end cap. I finally put in in a vise and attempted to unscrew it with a large vise-grip, still no luck, of course I boffed up the knurling some. Now, what do I do, can't throw it away, should I send it back to Mag-lite for a new cap, maybe they'll just un-screw the old one for me, maybe they'll just send me a new lamp. I really prefer to keep it because I had it for quite a while, any suggestions?? Thanks in advance..:thinking:

The battery leaked inside. Do you remember what cells you put in it were?

A couple of regular duracells..

Contact Duracell and tell them their cells leaked and ruined your Mag. They should replace it. If they don't want to do anything about it, contact Mag, as they have contracts with all the major battery makers and Mag should replace it on Duracell's dime.
