They actually come supplied with a standard 2.4v incandescent bulb.

I put in one of my PR2-W1-WVR LED FlashLight bulbs
(1v- 4.9v) Approx 180ma @ 3v

and it works a treat.

58p, with flat tail standing base, with pullout circular hanger.
And, also a feature I like, when you stand it on end, lit bulb down, there is a bit of illuminated spill around the front of the torch, so you can see you've left it on.
There is also a small flat moulding so it won't roll.
And all for 58p.

But, it is also the answer to a prayer of mine, a low output, cheapy CR123 torch capable of totally running down my part used CR123's, as used in my P3D's etc, at high level output.

I modded the torch body, with hacksaw, initially just cut it in half, then trimmed to length using hacksaw, being careful not to cut through the top to tail negative metal bar, which I shortened, and re wound around the tail spring, a bit of judicious use of wire cutters removed 2 of the 4 AA spacing bars inside the body, 10p's worth of Superglue, and voila,
my dream CR123 battery user upper !

And it works a treat.

Because the body is slightly tapered, it's not a superb fit, the black tape smooths out the join, and makes it waterproof(ish).

I kept the black tape on, keeps the joint smooth in the hand.

It's only for indoor use anyway.

The Superglue held the parts together, which I taped tightly together until set, around 30 minutes for safety.

So, you modders, get yourselves down to your local UK Tesco store....

Even if only to drop in a LED replacement bulb.

(Yeh I know it's then actually more than $1, but you know what I mean)
