Hi:

Newbie here--

I am mainly interested in waterproof lights and just went crazy and bought some LED lenses and Cree Q-bin emitters on stars.

I am trying to figure out how to upgrade an old dive light with LEDs. Mechanically, and electronically I am fine (At least I don't know yet what I don;t know.) My question is two fold:

Can I safely remove the emitters from the stars?
and
Where can I buy bare Cree emitters?

DealExtreme only seems to sell the Cree MC-E as emitter only. At $20 each, I want to practice on some cheaper emitters first.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

If the emitters are reflow soldered you can probably heat the star up and should come right off, if epoxied then you might be out of luck. Do a search and you will find a number of threads detailing this procedure.
