Hey !

I am planning at the moment to build a small traffic emergency light.

I m going to use 3-5 yellow/amber luxeon rebels and small carclo optics.
The design is clear so far.

But now, i am looking for a driver that is able to run theese LEDs from 3 cr123a li-ions.
The most important mode is of course the strobe mode.
also important is, that the driver doesnt draw any current if the light is turned of (that i can keep it in the car for a few years)

i found a few drivers at DX that are able to power more than 1 led , but they all dont give 1000mA in the strobe mode, but i want maximum brightness ! :D:D:D

could you suggest me a simple driver that fits my demands ?
maybe ay taskled ? but they have soo many feature and i need only a fast strobe
price doesnt matter
or ist there a SIMPLE way to solder a circuit from transistors an capacitors (i am good at soldering but have only the basics about circuits and no ideo of microcontrollers)

thanks for your help !!
regards
Dr.

If all you want is a strobe, I would think you could just use direct drive from the power supply and use a resistor to drop down the voltage. You don't really need it to be regulated for that sort of application.

In which case, possibly a basic 555 timer and a power transistor capable of more than 1amp at the voltage you're using.

I'm sure that could be modified! :)
