At what voltage does the L4 drop out of regulation?

I just got a L4 and was wondering if a Li-Ion without a protection circuit would work well in the L4.

I checked the battery voltage when mine dropped out and it was 2.65V each. Also, it's a very steep drop off from full bright to Arc AAA brightness.

Will the KL4 head on a E1e run as bright as in a 2x123 body?

I would think being regulated it should be just as bright [with a shorter power pack life], but I've read conflicting statements.

No, it runs noticeably dimmer, although it's still plenty bright... I got somewhere around the mid 700s in Lux from the L4 body, and the low-500s in Lux from an E1 body...

[edit]
A peak 763 Lux on my L4...

A peak 512 Lux on my E1/KL4...

Ben H, I don't know if you saw this post.

Also this one and the next couple that follow it too. Speculation that the L4 may have "built-in" protection for Li-ions. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thinking.gif
