M61 2x 18650 change in output, runtime, or both?

Hello all,

I did a bit of searching but couldn't really find a definitive answer, so I pose this question:

I recently purchased a Malkoff M61 with both an MD2 and MD4 body. I'm waiting for my 18650's to show up, so I've been running it on the MD2 body with 2xCR123.

If I were to run the M61 on 2x18650, would it affect the output? The answer I found made no mention of output, but said it would run for longer on 2x18650's, but be less efficient than if it were running on one.

Thanks in advance

It will not affect the output - voltage is still within 3.4-9V range (7.4-8.4V) so it's still regulated. Anything above would probably :poof: the module although I'm not inclined to try it on mine.:duh2:

You will get longer runtimes than a single 18650 obviously, I don't know how it chalks up to 2x or 3xCR123s though.

As for less efficiency with more than one battery.. I don't know, I'm not too clever with battery stuff. Maybe it's a li-ion peculiarity? On the other hand maybe someone was just guessing, I don't know. There's internal battery resistance which every battery has but unless it's a really bad battery it shouldn't make all that much difference.

I tried it on both 1 and 2 18650 cells and noticed no difference in lumens. Same thing. Trying to get an idea of runtime on 2x18650 Redilist 2900 mAh cells.

It does seem a little more efficient than the older M60. I have both. Especially on 1 cell.

I have been running just that combo. Though I admit IMO M61 really shines in 1x18650 configuration. I am thinking about trying M61L in 2x18650 for some super runtime. Maybe even M61LL.
