Cree XM-L - what reflectors are you using?

So..... with the impending release of the XM-L, what reflectors have you lined up?

After a horrific accident which killed nine XP-Gs, I'm thinking of switching to XM-Ls, which can handle what I'm going to throw at them (regulated 2.8A drive current). Initially I was planning to go with the MC-E and Ledil Boom reflectors - do you think they'll work with XM-Ls?

Sorry for the gravedig, but I'm looking at using Cree XM-L's for a bike light and I'm wondering what reflectors are good. I checked out the Ledil C4F12103_Iris-XM-screw from http://cl.ly/0X332S1q2i1y1E23271p and it looks good but they're not really available yet. The other ones are from the page at http://cl.ly/103W3t0U2W0N0X430U31 and they don't have a holder, though that's not a dealbreaker. Any thoughts?

Hi, digging up old threads is A-OK in my book. I wish more people did that.

If it helps any, I have been accumulating info on XM-L optics and reflectors in an LED section thread. As you find things, please feel free to add to that collection of info and pictures there if you don't mind:

Part of the challenge is finding combinations of optical solutions that don't interfere with the board.

I'm also interested in what reflectors are being used, I am trying to build a triple XML in a 2d Mag.

i have an XM-L in my mini mag (should have used an XP-G but didn't know at the time). I only modified the reflector a very little bit, basically removed some fins and made it fit flat against the LED.
here's a few pics of it, you can see that A) I placed the LED slightly off center and B) that the LED's pcb nearly fits in to the opening without having to enlarge it any.

It gives a flooding beam, I think the beam tightens up just a little bit before starting to weaken as i screw the head off, so I don't know if you could get it any tighter by moving the LED further in to the reflector (which would require adjusting the reflector to fit the pcb).

has some beam shots of my mini mag with the XM-L in it

Gravedigging my old thread is fine. You know it's tough when one year later I'm still looking for a solution!

Kevin,

I'm working on a couple of projects w/ XMLs and XPGs. The KD C8 reflector for XRE emitters seems to work well for single emitters, haven't tried an XML w/ a C8 reflector sized for an XPG, once I have the parts assembled I'll post pics and beam shots.
