Black Diamond Issue - anyone else experienced this?

Hey all,

So i have a black diamond gizmo (image), it's a simple light, but it's a bit old.

It seems to have picked up a fault where on 100% it develops a flash, which gets faster and faster until the light is almost like a strobe. It happens after the light is on for 5-10 minutes (fresh batteries).

The light itself does have a flash mode, but thats a 1s on 1s off, not epileptic strobe. I'm 100% sure i'm on the normal "full strength" setting.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? Did you find a solution?

Or is this an excuse for an upgrade?

Sounds like the perfect raver's headlight. Buy new light and put this on ebay just before this year's Burning Man...

I've seen this problem (in a different headlamp) where the electronics in the driver were getting too hot. Maybe pull it apart and see if the heatsink is loose/adrift. What sort of batteries are you running ? If currently (intentional pun) on lithium primaries (1.7v) try running it on sanyo eneloops (1.2v) and see if that helps.
