Not trying to drag up the negative past, so please refrain, I just wondering. Dropped a XP-G2 in one tonight, really dig it. Is anyone still a user and fan of the FF3 ?

It was the first light I bought after joining CPF. I got lucky -- mine was one of the last Doug shipped. I remember he shipped it three or four days later than he said he would and I thought that wasn't a good way to ensure repeat business. Heh...

Mine's still mint and going to stay that way, although I don't blame you for modding yours.

Still have one in my office drawer....use it all the time. I built another 'sandwich' for it using a driver I can't recall (runs on either primary or RCR123) and one of those LED's that had the rubbery dome (?). Man I've forgotten everything...been a while, lol.

Edit: I'm actually using one of the old black bodied original models.....

Thanks JeffN, I had forgotten they came with the FluPic pill. I have one of those in a JilLite AA and had completely forgotten how to run it too!

what was that light like? its original sales thread is gone based on what i saw

It was a little CR123 light exactly similar to the Nautilus in size.
It came in the nicest nave blue anodizing I've had ever seen.
The original firefly run was black then run 2 and 3 (last run) were navy blue.
It had a copper core heatsink with buttery smooth threads.
It used the old Luxeon emitter before Cree came into the game.
Also had an optional CR2 body.

Guys....This thread is worthless without pics!!!

nice man, thanks for the incredible response. Did the old Luxeon emitters have a good beam? I wonder if these old FF lights are upgradeable at all?

Yes, and thank you for YOUR contribution to this thread. Ignore list updated.

are you kidding?

Yeah the Luxeon was able to have a decent beam but not as near brightness as todays LEDs.

Are they upgradeable? Check out the first post :p

I had a Firefly II and it was easy to unscrew it all apart and get to the board, unfortunately I had no skills at modding.
