Olight X6 Marauder - any way to hook it to a car battery?

Hello all,

I think I'm pretty much set about getting this light and the only thing that makes me wonder is the ability to connect it to a car battery. I would be running it on the highest setting for long periods in cold temperatures (-5 to -25 Celsius, 23 to -13 F). Hence, running it from a car battery would be a nice option.

I read somewhere that Olight was supposed to produce an accessory cable for this? Will they ever do it? Would it be easy to do it yourself, I wonder if those connectors are available anywhere? Has anyone tried this?

If this can be done, I think it will be time for my HID modded Cyclops to retire.

Thanks!

According to selfbuilt's review, it is possible.
I'm not sure how it connects though or if you need to buy additional accessories to do so. Perhaps someone who owns one can chip in.

Thanks Monkeyboy! I think it should be possible and should be a relatively easy DIY project in case one is willing to just cut away the original battery connector. But I'd like to keep it and alternate between the original battery and a car battery. I am also deeply concerned about frying the lamp if I just go ahead and try my hand at it... you see, I am useless at this stuff. I did manage to convert my Cyclops into a HID light but managed to fry one multimeter in the process... :duh2:

So it would be great to hear from other people.

I saw somewhere on the net that they have an optional adapter to use 220ac for the light maybe if you get that and an inverter for your car?

Taskulamput.fi they have the adapter listed in the info of the marauder :)

Kappas, maanmies! :-D

Thanks for the tip Välineurheilija, I guess I need to contact the shop and ask whether the accessory they mention is just for charging the battery or for running the light directly from a car battery.

OK, I am now waiting for my X6 which is in the mail! I'll see about replacing the connectors with new ones so that I can easily swap between the original battery pack and a car battery. I have a friend who knows quite a bit about electronics and should he be busy I'll consult a local business that specialises in components and connectors.
