different optics for L4?

is there an different optic I can swap out the stock one in my L4 to give it more throw instead of the more `flood` like quality of the beam it has now?

No such, reflectors generally give more throw then optics, if the reflector was smooth as opposed to orange peel you would get a bit more throw. There aren't any optics out there that would give you more throw considerign the 5watt design doesnt work too well with current optics.

If you want throw out of a 5W, you need to go with a bigger reflector that would have the ability to concentrate the beam of the light source in a 5W. I would suggest building a McLux PR head. It's still on the smallish side, but actually has some throw. Alot more than the L4 anyway. If you want throw out of the L4, mod it. Swap the lexeon for a 1W or 3W. If you plan to run it on an E1e body, you don't need to worry about messing with the circuit. If you want to run it on 2X123, you'll need to replace the circuit.
